Q. How do I administer my SHOUTcast server?

Please go to the URL that you were sent in your welcome email, this would be in the form of http://shoutcast.tidyhosts.com:yourport

You can login by clicking on the admin link and typing the username admin followed by your password that you asked for when you signed up.

 
Q. Where can I put my SHOUTcast stats on my site?


Please download the stats.zip from http://www.tidyhosts.com/downloads/stats.zip

When you have done this please open the config_radio.php file and edit the settings to match your SHOUTcast server.

Once this is done upload the files to your website and view the radio_stats.php in your browser.

This is only a basic method and to make it fit in your website would require you to make the appropriate changes.

Please note that your must view the file as radio_stats.php and not radio_stats.htm.

 
Q. How do I login to transfer my website to the servers?

You can use any FTP client to upload or download your website files. Most commonly used is Internet Explorer. To do this replace the http:// with ftp:// followed your ftp hostname.

For example ftp://ftp.tidyhosts.com you will then be prompted for you ftp username and password, once entered you will be able to copy and paste files like windows explorer.
   
Q. I can't FTP into my account


TidyHosts constantly monitors the performance of its FTP servers. When system problems do occur look for an alert on the status page of this site.

If there are no alerts posted then the problem is probably with your FTP client or computer.

Here are some common problems/issues:

Check the FTP settings in your client. You may need to have PASV enabled.

If you use a firewall please check you have the correct ports open allowing outbound traffic on ports 20,21.

Do you have a personal firewall product installed on your computer? This may be Zone Alarm, Norton Personal Firewall, or the built in firewall installed with XP. If so then you need to set it up correctly. Try disabling it to see if it is causing the problem.

Are you trying to connect to the right server? You should br using ftp.yourdomainname. You can also use ftp.tidyhosts.com.

 
Q. Do TidyHosts Supply an SMTP service?

Yes smtp is provided but requires authentication, please use your email address and password.
 
Q. Can I use outlook or any other mail client to pick up my email?


Yes, most email clients can be used. We provide a pop3 system so most clients will utilise this.

Q. Do I need to Transfer my Domain to TidyHosts to enable my website?

No, this is not necessary, however you will need to modify the nameservers to that specified in the welcome email that is sent to you.
 
Q. What is the setup time for most packages?

We aim to have all packages active the same day of purchase. There are times when the queue is large so in all cases setup time should take no more than 24hrs.
