When placing a new order for Hosted Exchange, the provisioning is carried out immediately and available for you to login and access within a few minutes. The information on how to login and create your new organisation is sent over to you once the process has completed.
If you wish to migrate your mailboxes over to Tidyhosts, this can be done using easy methods such as backing up your email to a PST file and restoring into your new mailbox. Whist the migration is taking place, you can still continue to send and receive emails making the process easy.
If you need additional mailboxes for new staff or team members, then you can simply order more and they will be added to your organisation. Once you have created the mailboxes, you can begin to collaborate and share calendars with your new colleagues.
With all mailboxes, anti-virus and spam protection is included. The emails are scanned before they enter your mailboxes. You will be notified of any emails that are blocked, allowing you to check and release any that are expected.
Accessing email from any location and keeping up to date with colleagues has been made simple with the use of Outlook on the web. You can login from any location and on any device without the need for using your personal equipment, for example a public kiosk.
All mailboxes have unmetered bandwidth included, this means you are free to send and receive as many emails as you like from any location. The emails are synced to all devices that are connected to Hosted Exchange.
You can manage many aspects of your Exchange organisation using the control panel. Features include adding additional email addresses, domains, mailbox policies and more. Additionally, you can also enable or disable Outlook on the web, Active Sync and Outlook anywhere for certain mailboxes where there maybe company policies in place.
The common queries we are asked about Hosted Exchange
There is no mandatory requirement to move away from on-prem Exchange, however with the ongoing costs and skills required, moving your mailboxes to a cloud hosted solution is now the most cost effective choice.
The choice is solely dependent on what you would like to use. O365 allows you to use the Office applications with Exchange online, however the cost is significantly higher. If you are using Office as a standalone product, then you could simply use Hosted Exchange at a much lower cost. Both options give you a range of features to use within your business.
You can host multiple domains, otherwise known as aliases, to your mailboxes if the purchased plan supports it. You can check the plan details for this feature before purchase. Additional domains allows for you to receive emails into the same mailbox, for example mail@domain.com and mail@domain2.com.
The plans are available to both home and business customers. Exchange is a collaboration suite which is used typically used by business customers, however home users are also adopting Exchange into their environments with the solution now available at lower costs.
Mailbox usage should be monitored on a regular basis, if you are requiring more storage or features, then you can upgrade to large plan. There are no disruptions when upgrading and can be done at any time.
Creation and management of the Exchange organisation or tenant is managed by you using the control panel. There are no requirements to manage servers or hardware and you can make changes to mailboxes and features when you need too.
There is a requirement to create an Autodiscover DNS record, this allows the Outlook app to locate the correct Exchange environment and connect to the mailboxes, without this Outlook will fail to connect. An SPF record should also be created to tell other email servers that the Exchange environment is authorized to send email for your Organisation. Details for this will be sent to you.
Domain transfers are initiated at the new registrar you are using for your domain. Certain domains such as .com require an EPP code which you can obtain from your current registrar. UK domain will require you to update the IPS tag to the new registrar. Please contact us for further help with your specific requirements.
Migrations of mailboxes can be done by using the Outlook client. You would simply export your existing email to a PST file and import it to the new Exchange environment. During this migration you can still send and receive email. For larger migrations we offer alternative solutions which can be discussed with our customers services team.
All communication from your device running Outlook is secured using TLS/SSL over port 443, therefore is encrypted throughout the connection to the Exchange environment.
