trixbox is an all in one VOIP application that provides individuals and businesses the ability to host their own PBX system be it
at home or in the office. trixox provides an interface to manage the backend software, Asterisk which is the brains behind the
application.

The PBX software typically runs on a server or a VPS node using minmal resources to get up and running. The application is
installed as a package with the OS software included, currently CentOS. This then removes the need to build a server and install
the application after and thus removes any incompatabilties that usually occur when supporting multiple OS.

With a dedicated server you can install pri cards which will allow you to plug in your existing phone lines, with this method of
usage the server would need to be on-site. Most common of connectivity methods is using Session Initiation Protoco (SIP)
trunks, this allows you to route all telecoms traffic through a SIP provider over the internet using the IP protocol. The SIP
provider can then route many numbers to your PBX using local and national phone numbers.
