What is Media streaming?          
             

Media streaming is audio/video that is constantly received by and presented to an end device such as a PC or laptop while being delivered by a host that provides streaming services. Media streaming is refered to a method of delivering the content rather than the content itself. The distinction is usually applied to media that are distributed over networks with large bandwidth. Radio and TV are another method of delivering content to the end user, in recent times internet TV is now available which enables streamed content to be delivered via this meduim too.

Live streaming more specifically, means taking the media and broadcasting it live over the Internet. The process involves a camera for the media, an encoder to digitise the content, a media publisher such as Windows Media Encoder where the streams are made available to potential end-users and a fast network to distribute and deliver the content. The media can then be viewed by end-users on their devices.
